Dear Mathey Class of 2027 Students,
Welcome to Princeton and Mathey College – I am truly thrilled to have you join our “herd of Moose” (you’ll learn more about this nickname soon)! I believe you will find Mathey to be a warm and vibrant community that strives to live and uphold our B.O.W.L.D. values (Belonging, Ownership, Wellness, Learning, and Diversity). The college staff is committed to keeping these values front-and-center as we work with Mathey students in many different ways, including offering academic and personal support, planning fun and engaging programs, and providing a place you can call home on campus.
As the dean of Mathey College, I am responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the college, including oversight of the full-time staff. I also advise juniors and seniors (although I often work with first-years and sophomores on various advising questions, too). In addition, I work closely with the head of the college, Professor Stacey Sinclair, to promote a strong sense of community, encourage faculty-student interaction, and support student and staff ideas that enhance the social and intellectual features of the residential college. You can read a little more about my background here.
I encourage you to stop by the Mathey office (315 Hamilton Hall) sometime in the first few weeks of the fall semester to say hi! I enjoy having a meal or coffee with fellow Matheyites, and I am very easy to reach. The entire college staff is excited to welcome you to campus, and we are ready to help ensure your smooth transition to college life and full-time study at Princeton.
All best wishes,
Michael Olin
Dean of Mathey College
