Bio/Description

Welcome to Mathey – you belong here! I am looking forward to working with you this academic year. I began my career at Princeton in 2007 as the inaugural director of student life in First College before serving as Associate Dean of Undergraduate Students from 2012-17.  Afterwards I worked at Lafayette College as its first College Transition Specialist, focusing on the needs of marginalized and underrepresented students, before being appointed Dean of Advising and Co-curricular Programs.  Prior to Princeton I worked in various roles at NYU, Columbia University, and Seton Hall University, and my experience includes academic advising, student affairs, residential life, crisis management, college student mental health and wellness issues, and career development.

When working with students, I enjoy helping them tap into their growth mindset, consider the countless exciting options in front of them, and connect with the incredible resources on and off campus.

I earned a B.A. in Psychology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, an M.S. in Counseling (with a concentration in pastoral counseling) at Loyola University in Maryland, and a Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration at New York University.

When I’m not working I enjoy traveling with my family, playing pickup basketball, hiking, and cooking. I live in Pennington, NJ with my wife, Dana, and my two children, Charlie and Tessa.
